Thursday Thirteen

Thursday Thirteen
If I had the power that God has and could make things better - here is a list of 13 things I would like to make better for people.
13. Braxton to get over his cold and allergies. To feel better and be healthy all the time.
12. Granny to be better both physically and emotionally.
11. Craig to be in a better place - back with family and friends and happy.
10. Sue to have the full capabilities of her body.
9. Mom to be able to enjoy the freedoms that most of us enjoy.
8. Dad to have a job that he loved and wanted to go to everyday.
7. Andrea's back to be better and not hurt any more
6. The Peter's to have jobs and a car to get around in
5. The Church to flourish all over the world
4. Grandma Beck to feel better and not have pain.
3. Papa to not hurt with his back or knees.
2. Marriages to last a life time like they are intended too.
1. People to be happy and content with the things we enjoy and are given by God.
This is my list - I am sure I could add much more. What are some things that would be on your list?

The Day in the Life of a two year old.

I only wish I had pictures to post. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that today has been an eventful one. We made it to Texas safely and things have been going well. The boys are enjoying their time with grandparents and adjusting quite well. Brazos has been running a small fever but seems to be better today than yesterday. Braxton is asking lots of questions and learning a lot.
Today - I have two stories for today!
It has been raining here in Paris and it is a little muddy outside. It cleared off for a little while this morning so Da and Braxton went out to feed the sheep, ride the 4-wheeler, move the tractor, and what ever else they could find to do. They came back in and someone on the road had a flat. Da brought Braxton inside and headed out to the road to help. I was tending to Brazos and got Braxton a snack and went about my business. I looked up and asked where he was? No one knew. I went outside and started heading for the road - where I found Da changing the tire and you guessed it Braxton sitting the 4-wheeler at the road! We had a talk and finished changing the tire in the rain.
After an uneventful afternoon we headed to church of Bible class- things went well. After class we went to Braum's for some ice cream (we do this on Wednesday nights but it is usually McDonalds) we go inside and get in line. As we are waiting our turn we are talking to Micah and Jennifer, the man at the counter looks over at me and then down at Braxton. I thought what was that look for? So I look down at my son to find him stripped from the waist to the ankles and relieving himself on the counter at Braum's. While I am glad he did not go in his pants I was quite embarrassed. I did not know weather to laugh or cry. We asked for a mop and cleaned up the mess. We got our ice cream and laughed at our little entertainer. I can not believe what kids will do.
Thank you God for the innocence. We will see what tomorrow holds!

Thursday Thirteen

Can you believe that we are only 11 days away from Christmas. I am so excited to go home and see everyone. I am looking forward to spending some time with family and friends. While I will miss my friends here it will be good to see others. To make things fun I thought I would make a list of 13 presents that I have purchased this year and allow people to wonder if that is what will be in their stocking!!
1. John Deere Tractor
2. Tree Ornament
3. Crock Pot
4. Vacuum
5. Chair
6. Warming kettle
7. Necklace
8. Bracelet
9. Picture frame
10. Gift Card
11. Hand Soap
12. Calendar
13. Clothes
Guess as you will. What will Santa bring you. Have a wonderful holiday. Tell me how good or bad you were this year. Remember you still have 11 days to turn things around if you have been on the naughty list!

New Look

I thought it was time for a new look we had the other one for a while. I wish I were smart enough to make my own - but until then I will use what they offer for free!
Braxton made it through the night without getting sick - Thank you God. I am glad to see that he is doing better. Brazos caught the large part of this mess last night. It is so hard to watch them in pain and know that there is nothing you can do about it. He cried for awhile last night. Once I finally got him to sleep he slept the rest of the night - till 5 this morning. He is feeling better and has already had one nap this morning. He wants to be held. I think tomorrow will be better - that will be good just in time for dad to get home and play.
Have a wonderful day!

Sick - Well - Sick

This has been an up and down week here in the Beck house. Wednesday Braxton was not feeling well he was sick to his stomach and just not himself. He was better on Thursday. On Friday I had the mess. I was able to function - just did not feel my best. Saturday morning we had Christmas (I will do another post with pictures soon) and everyone was feeling better. Andy got the crud on Sunday just in time for him to leave for California. He was not feeling well when he left. He called later that night to say that he got there - he was feeling better then. Yesterday Braxton came in to get me in the middle of the night because he had made a mess in his bed. We got it cleaned up and he slept the rest of the night with me. Brazos had a touch of it yesterday with a couple of bad diapers. Braxton had another bit this morning with more vomit. So I cam ready for this mess to go AWAY! I am glad that we have this now and not next week when we will be in Texas - but it is no fun no matter when you get it. So this household is on the road to recovery!
We are taking one day at a time around here. I need to do a lot of packing this week. I have been making my list and trying to make sure that I keep everything picked up and in order. I think we will get there. I am glad to me finished with all my shopping and just able to look forward to the fun. I am looking forward to reading all the Christmas stories on the blogs. I will have part 1 of our story posted this week. More to come. Later.

5. Christmas cards - I am trying to get them in the mail by tomorrow - I still need addresses. Let's just say it has been a few years (8 or so) since I did a big mailing. So I have asked some of you for addresses I really appreciate the help!
6. Amy and Andrea need to update their blogs. I have told them over and over again and I thought that maybe if I called them out it would work. I guess only time will tell. UPDATE!!!

Reports

Dad and the boys

My boys
Dad playing horse for all the kids!

I really don't have any new news here but some pictures and a few things to share.

Andrea saw the doctor yesterday and they looked at the results from her tests. She does have a

ruptured disk. The doctor wants to get her medical records and do one more test to see what the best plan of action is. She is schueled to do the other test tomorrow. Please continue to pray for her and the best solution to her pain.

Andy is headed to California for a few days on Sunday - he has some work to do out there.

We are looking forward to Christmas and our Zant reunion. We are ready to see everyone.

Thursday thirteen ( a day late and a dollar short!)
Well what can I say but that I am behind. I need to get 13 million things done in the next two weeks and I am already running out of time. So for today all I have for you are 13 random things!
1. Andrea saw the neurologist on Monday - he told her that he did not want to do surgery. This was both a good and bad thing. He wanted to run more tests. She went Wednesday morning to have a spinal tap and another test that I can not remember the name of only to get there and find out she could not take the test because she is allergic to iodine. They put her on steroids for 3 days and she is back there this morning taking the tests, she will see the doctor again on Monday for the results.
2. Brazos saw the allergist on Wednesday - all is well!! They could not test him for to many things because he has not had the exposure yet. But we did find out that he is NOT allergic to milk, corn,or soy!!! Yea!!
3. Braxton has been a trooper. He is really growing up. With exception of a fit every now and then when I turn Curious George off he is a great kid. He is really into the movie Cars right now.
4.Brazos is everywhere! He has been crawling for a while now but he is really starting to get around quickly. He is pulling up on everything. He is walking behind the walker. His favorite is to walk while holding your hands. All of this at the ripe old age of 7 months (tomorrow)
5. Christmas Shopping - need I say more. I am almost done. I have about 3 things left to get. I am ready to be done.
6. Gone, Gone, Gone - I will be in Texas for a month. I am still not sure that this is the smartest thing I have ever done but I think it will be good. Andrea and I leave on the 16th and I will not return until the 15th of January. It will be great to spend time with family.
7. Packing - Enough said. I have a lot if planning and packing to do soon!
8. Tree up - We did manage to get our tree and decorations up this week. It is nice to see it up - it helps to get me in the holiday mood.
9. Ladies night Out - On the last Thursday of every month we have ladies night out at church. It is a time for fellowship, food, and fun. Last night was great. I was tired because we had just got back and i had been running, but it was very uplifting and I am glad I went.
10. Cold - we had snow about a month ago but it warmed back up. Now it is just cold. We did not get the snow that Texas got but we did have the cooler weather. Our low last night was in the teens.
11. What do you get people who already have everything?
12. I almost forgot - HOW ABOUT THOSE AGGIES!!! WHOOP!!! it just doesn't get much better than that.
13. More to come - I have pictures to post. I will do my best to get some news ones up today or tomorrow.
Have a good one!!

Catch Up

So many things to catch up on and so little time.

We had a wonderful trip to Texas. We were in the west this trip. We spent an exciting 4 days with MeMe and PaPaw and the Schmidt's (cousin Karson). The boys had a good time playing and just wanted more. I think they would have stayed outside the entire time if they could have.

We went to Dale and Ethellynn's 60th wedding anniversary party on Friday and were able to see some Zant family. It is always good to see them and catch up on what is going on.

We also saw the Norris clan and got some play time in with the kids there.

I got some shopping time in with the Cheryl and MeMe in the big town of Lamesa.

We had a good time and wish it could have been longer.

One more update, I finally found two news cousin blogs. I added them to the list of favorites - cousin Avery and cousin Roselyn. You should check them both out!!! There is a really cool message on Roselyn's site today!

Thursday Thirteen

Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen random things - that I am thankful for
1. Prayer - I am so thankful that we have the avenue of prayer that we can lay our burdens down at our Fathers feet and know that they will be heard and taken care of.
2. Granny Zant - she is doing great. She made it through surgery well. She is in a room (not ICU- Whoop!) and is doing good. She may even get to go home on Monday. I am thankful for the prayers you have said for her and that she is doing well.
3. Andrea - she had her MRI today and found out that she does in fact have a ruptured disk. She will see a neurosurgeon on Monday the 27th. I am thankful that she will be able to get this problem fixed and not have to be in this constant pain for much longer.
4. My parents - they are just wonderful. I am thankful that I have such great examples before me and all the things they continue to do. They are strong Christians and keep me firm in my faith. I am thankful for the sounding boards I have in them.
5. My husband. I am so blessed to have such a loving wonderful Christan man as a husband. I am thankful for the great job he does leading our family. He is a leader.
6. My in-laws. I am thankful that they gave me such a wonderful husband and I am thankful for the examples they are to my children. I am blessed to have Christian in-laws who love God and choose to put Him first.
7. Aunts and Uncles. Have I said how blessed I am to have such a wonderful Christian family. I am so thankful that I have examples all around me. Thanks to you all for being so good and for always being there, you just don't know how good you are!
8. Sisters (in-laws included) I have such wonderful sisters. I enjoy talking to them and getting new ideas and comparing stories. I am thankful that I have them as sisters both physically and spiritually.
9. Brother-in-laws - since I do not have any brothers I have been blessed 3 times over with brother-in-laws. I am so thankful for each of them. They are each unique in their own way and bring a special blessing to my life. Thanks for being you!
10. Blogging friends. I am thankful that I have this line of communication. I am glad that I can express my emotion and thoughts and know that they will be heard and prayed for when needed. I am thankful that I can keep up with family and friends and how our lives are progressing.
11. Cousins. This one is extra special as it broadens my family. I am thankful for all of my cousins and their faith. I am thankful to have such a loving family who can cry and laugh with you. Thanks for being so active and playing part in our lives.

I am thankful for all their prayers and thoughts of encouragement as we have been through a lot with Granny, Karl and his surgery, and now Andrea. Thank you God for our church families - you knew we would need each other.
13. Friends - I am thankful for friends. People who stand by you and listen you all your complaints, joys, sadness, and everything in between. Thanks for the friendship.

God is listening - when we pray

We have been super busy and have just not stopped long enough to give you all updates. They will be coming soon I promise. But for now I have a couple of prayer requests to ask of all of you.
1. My Granny Zant has not been doing real well. We have been praying for her for some time. She has had two near misses already this year and with prayer we have gotten through them. She is going to have surgery tomorrow morning at 7:20 to replace some veins in her legs. Please pray that the operation will go well and that she will be a fighter and get through it all okay.

2. Andrea - my sister is having some back trouble. She has been a pain on and off for quite some time. She went to the doctor yesterday and they are going to do a MRI tomorrow. Please pray that they can find what is causing her this pain so that it can be fixed.

3. Uncle Craig - needs prayers right now.

There are more but these are weighing the heaviest on my heart. I would really appreciate the thoughts and prayers as we get through the next week. Thanks blog friends for the prayers!

6 months

Brazos had his 6 month check up on Monday. Everything went well. He weighed in at 15 pounds and 5 ounces and was 27 and 1/2 inches long. He is long for his age and you guessed it - under weight. He is not putting on enough weight to make them happy yet. They are going to give us to the next well check to see if we can get more weight on him. If we can show progress then they (the doctors) will be happy. I think he is fine and will catch up eventually. Braxton is just now getting to the point where he is the same size as kids his age. They are just thin like their dad.
Brazos will see the allergist on the 29th to see what he is allergic to. I hope the list is smaller than Braxton's was. He saw the Heart doctor on the 31st and everything was the same - the doctor said he did not see any change, so we were not released. But, we have to go back in 6 months. He seemed to think that it would be better by then.
Braxton saw the allergist on the 30th and was tested for the flu shot. Poor thing had to get 3 pricks and 4 shots. He was a trooper. All that to find out that he is still allergic to egg and the flu shot therefore he can not take it. The allergist said that all the allergies were still there. The milk allergy is still there but it is getting better. He is still very allergic to straight milk but he can now have things will milk in them. The egg allergy seem to be taking all the attention for now. Eggs are still making him very sick. He is a great kid and takes it all with stride.
Below are some of Brazos 6 month pictures. Enjoy!

Braxton going for more candy at Trunk or Treat
I know it has been a while! We were in Paris for the last week. We had a very successful trip. Andrea and I spoke at a teen girls day at College C of C on Saturday (I will blog on that later) so we used it as an excuse to go home and see the family. We enjoyed getting to see everyone and spend time with Da and Mama Z. It was a very busy week but it was also very enjoyable.
I will have a couple of more posts this week when I get unpacked and find everything. Sorry for the long time between posts I will try to keep up from now on!

Thursday Thirteen

Here is a list of Thirteen things that I have done and need to do within a 7 day time frame.
(the time frame is Tuesday to Tuesday) Let's just say it has been a busy week!
13. Do my bi-monthly grocery shopping (and get them all put away) Lisa and I trade off with the kids so I was able to get all the shopping done come home and get everything put away kid free. This was a first for me. I always have had or child or the other. It was a peaceful shopping experience.
12. Christmas Shopping - I have gotten a lot of my Christmas shopping done. I have about half finished. This week I made a lot of progress because I got Braxton and Brazos done!!!
11. Check on Tiffany - one of the girls from church (our adopted daughter) had her tonsils taken out Wednesday and she wanted me to come over and see her. I took her a milk shake and stayed for awhile. She has spent all day with me today and probably tomorrow. She is a great kid and just needs some special attention.
10. Trunk or Treat - Last night at church we had trunk or treat. We had a great turn out. We had over 25 kids. This is a great show for this congregation. It was a fun night and the boys looked great. (I will post the pictures tomorrow)
9. Karl surgery - Karl had back surgery this morning. He and Andrea are still at the hospital - he seems to be recovering well. He will be sore for a couple of days.
8. Playing hospital - This house has become a recovery center. It is nice to be able to take care of people when they are in need. I am thankful to God for providing my husband a wonderful job that allows me to be at home and care for those who need it the most.
7. Finish the girls day stuff - Andrea and I are speaking at a girls day at the College Church of Christ next weekend. We have been working on the agenda and what we want to do. We just need to finish it up.
6. Ladies Night Out - is tonight. I am responsible for getting everything set up, food there, and making sure everything goes off without a hitch. I am looking forward to a night of food, fun, and fellowship.
7. Hayride - Saturday morning our congregation is having a hayride and wienie roast. There is a fun zone and things for the kids to do. We are looking forward to this event.
6. Marriage Class - Because Monday is Beggars Night (up here the kids do not trick or treat on Halloween - they do it on Beggars night which is usually the night before) so because Beggars night is on Monday we moved our class to Saturday night. So Saturday will be a busy day.
5. Sunday worship and pot luck - Sunday is always a busy day with Bible class, worship, pot luck, short nap, and worship again. It is a busy day but a day that is full of family time and fellowship.
4. Braxton has an allergist appointment on Monday - this one is to see if he will be able to take the flu shot. The nurse said it will take around two hours to see if it will work.
3. The Clapp kids come for a visit. I usually keep the kids every other Tuesday but this week I will have them on Monday. It will be a fun and very busy day!
2. Brazos cardiologist appointment. We see the cardiologist on Tuesday for a follow up.
1. Take a trip to Paris. We will leave as soon as we are done at the cardiologist. We are looking forward to a great week with family and friends.
Well that is a look into the 7 days of our life.

Granny Update

Just wanted to say Thanks to all of you who have been praying for Granny Zant. We all really appreciate the prayers. Wanted to give you an update and let you know how things were going. She is doing better and is at home now. She is still not eating much but she is

progressing. Taking one day at a time right now. The doctors said they are going to do surgery on Nov 16th to try and fix the vein in her leg. So please pray that this can be done successfully - the only other option is amputation. She is a trooper and will pull through, thanks again for all the prayers. I will keep you updated on her progress.

My Name

How common is your name? Well I thought before I did this that it might be hard to find a person with my same name and I was correct. Although there are a lot of Beck's (110,000) out there, they database could not find another Lyneil! There are a lot less people with my maiden name - only 390. This was a lot of fun. I got it off of Jenn's blog. Thanks for sharing. Go to the site and plug in your name and tell me what you come up with.

Did someone say swimming?

I know it is the middle of October but here are some pictures from our weekend. We went to the Amana colonies here in Iowa for a weekend of fun. They have an indoor water park with miniature golf another added bonus is that there is a Tanger outlet mall within 10 minutes of the water park. We took off around 2 pm on Friday and went over we swam till 7pm and then headed over to the outlets to shop for a few hours. We shopped till we were ready to drop.
We came back to the hotel and we all slept well. We got up Saturday morning ready to go. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and them went swimming again. Braxton loved every minute we were there. He had a great time and would go back again any time.
We had a great time. Check out the pictures of our fun!
Some of the pictures are blurry because it was so humid in there.

Here they are!

The boys seem to be growing by leaps and bounds lately. They are really amazing. I just can not believe some days how amazing God is. I am so thankful for my family. I am thankful for all the help I have been getting from Andrea and Karl. They have been such a blessing. Andy and I have really been appreciative.

Karl and Andrea with Brazos on the train.
Dad with the boys! These are the loves of my life!

Here is a pictures of Brazos taking his bath in the kitchen sink. This was the first time he sat up in the sink by himself. He is getting so big.
Here is one of my little stinker~ What a sweet boy. He raked the leaved in the yard with dads help. Then the play time began. Dad through Braxton into the leaves. They had a great time playing outside.
Update: Granny is doing some better. They moved her to a room and have been getting her up and moving. Her liver has started to function but her kidneys are not. They started dialysis yesterday and will do it again today and tomorrow. We are praying that her kidneys will come back - they said time will tell. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks for the prayers that have been offered - we do appreciate them.

Thursday Thirteen

I have been wanting to do this TT for a little while, but it was still to warm here in Iowa. Well no longer! The temps have fallen and fall is in the air. Here are 13 things I love about fall.
13. The leaves changing. It is really pretty to see all of the colors.
12. The train ride. This is the second year we have taken the train ride in the fall. It is so great to see all of God's glory and the creation that He has made.
11.Change in the weather. I like the cooler weather. I do not so much enjoy the cold, but the cooler weather is nice.
10. Snuggle time. Cooler weather brings about snuggle time with Andy and the kids.
9. Getting things done. I tend to put off things that need to be done in the house because we spend a lot of time outside while it is warm, so fall brings about cleaning time.
8. Holidays - when fall sets in I know that the holidays are just around the corner and I will be able to spend time with family.
7. Thanksgiving - I love getting together at Thanksgiving. I love to spend time with my family and friends.
6. Aggie football. I love to watch our Aggies Win. We do not watch a lot of football. We enjoy college football and watch our Aggies every chance we get
5. Yard work - I love to spend time outside with my family, raking the leaves and trimming back the hedges for the winter.
4. Craft Fairs - In the fall all the craft fairs come to town with all the good for Christmas. I love to go and look and buy.
3. Christmas Shopping - I love to go Christmas shopping. I love buying presents for people and looking forward to the time we get to spend together.
2. Soup - I love when the weather turns cold enough for soup. I love to come into the house and smell what has been cooking and getting ready to enjoy that meal with my family.
1. Spending time with family - The fall always seem to bring more time with family and friends. I love this time of year because we get to catch up and visit.

Choo Choo Train

We took a trip to Boone this weekend to ride the train. It is a scenic train. We love to go in the fall and see all the trees changing and the fall air. We had a great time. Braxton loved the train. He is still talking about the train. They have a special Thomas weekend in the Spring - I think we will try to make it. Here are some pictures from our trip.

This is a picture of the passenger car.
Dad and Braxton in front of the engine.
This was a play car that they had for the kids to get in. Braxton loved it.

On another note, my grandmother Zant is not doing well. She had surgery on Wednesday and it seemed to go well. She lost some blood during surgery but recovered and went home. She has not been able to hold food down and has not been feeling well. Yesterday afternoon she was not well so she went to the ER in Greenville. She had a really low temp and her blood pressure was also really low. After 6 hours of trying to stabilize her they put her on a care flight to Dallas. She got there about 11 pm and they worked for a while. They got her stable enough to do surgery at 1:30. There were a rough couple of hours but she seems to have pulled through. The surgery last night was to stop the bleeding inside her body they had to give her 5 pints of blood last night. She is still in ICU and will be there for at least a couple of more days. She really could use some prayers right now. She is a fighter and is working hard. They took her off of the dopamine (sp) this morning and she is starting to open her eyes some. During all of this her kidneys shut down. They are starting to make a come back. They said it will be some time before we know what kind of damage was done to the major organs (heart, liver, kidneys, etc. ). Please pray for June Zant and her recovery. Also a prayer for her husband (Dudley) and kids (Rick, Pam, Craig, and Jeanne) as they have had a long night and are looking at a long couple of days ahead. Thanks for the prayers I will keep you updated on her progress.
