Swim Fun!

The last couple of weeks of summer we were able to be home. It was really nice to be in once place for an extended period of time. We decided to take advantage for free time and spend some quality time with friends in the water. It was a lot of fun to take the boys and watch them go. They have really come a long way with swimming over the last couple of months.
One day I took the boys to fun-n-sun with Danielle and Addisyn. It was a lot of fun to play and swim. Later that week we went to Big Spring to swim at their new pool, it is really nice and of course we had a wonderful time!

Goat Business

Well we are back in the goat business. This year we have two boys that are able to show. Here in Lynn county kids are able to start showing (goats only) in Kindergarten. They are able to show at the local school show and also at County. Braxton did a great job last year and has been asking for more goats for the last couple of months. So, he and Brazos were excited when we told them it was time to go get goats. We went to see our friend Joetta on Tuesday and see what little friends she had for us this year. They boys seems like they were not as interested while we were there and it was a little scary to me. But of course they picked right up when we were on the way home and have not slowed down since.
The goats have done a great job this year. They are already walking a lot better than last year. We also purchased a bottle baby goat for Brayson. He loves it!! It has been a great idea. Captain America is very calm and just goes where every Brayson wants him to go.
We will head to Paris in the next couple of weeks to get a couple more goats, but so far we are working with what we have. The boys are having a last and I am so glad that we can do something for them that shows responsibility.

First Day of School

It has been so hard for me to accept the fact that school is starting. I have really enjoyed having my kids home this summer and getting to spend time with them. We had a wonderful summer. I was not ready to turn my boys over to their teachers, but realized that it was time. They were very excited to go to school and they were really ready to see all their friends and get back into a routine (ok, maybe I was the one that wanted the routine!)
We got off to a great start and have not looked back. Braxton started the 1st grade and is doing really well. Brazos started Kindergarten and loves it! Brayson and I started our work days at Superkids and will start school after Labor Day. And so it begins.
Another year started! We are excited about this year and all the adventure it brings!

The Cirone's

One of the stops while we were gone was to Andy's aunt and uncle's home in Farmington, IL. It was about 30 minutes outside of Peoria. They have a very nice place and were more than willing to let us come and hang out for a couple of days. They had a lot of things for the boys to do and of course spoiled us rotten while we were there. We don't get to see them as often as we would like but take the opportunities we are given to visit.
The boys got to cook over an open fire, ride in jeeps, play pool, go fishing, and pretty much anything else they could dream up. It was a great couple of day and I have lots of pictures to prove it!

Braxton loved Chris! He had some many questions for him, we told him before we went out that he had a 10 question limit for the day. When he went over 10 question we threw him in the water. He was not very happy about it, but once he was in the water he decided it might be ok. Thanks for being a trooper Braxton and thanks to Chris for putting up with all of us!

Grant's Farm

While in St Louis we took the time to visit Grant's Farm. There were a lot of free things to do in St Louis and this was one of them. It was very interesting and we had a great time. This was the land previously owned by Ulysses S Grant. Here is some information about Grant's Farm I pulled from their web site

"There are many exciting animal encounters possible at Grant's Farm, the 281-acre ancestral home of the Busch family, located just south of the city of St. Louis. The Farm is home to more than 900 animals representing more than 100 different species. Grant's Farm, operated by Anheuser-Busch, Inc., has been a St. Louis tradition for over five decades. More than 24 million guests have visited this popular family attraction during its history.

The Farm takes its name from our 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. In the 1850s, Grant founded and farmed a portion of the 281 acres. Today, this land is home to Grant's Farm and is preserved as a living symbol of the Busch family's love for animals and Anheuser-Busch's commitment to wildlife conservation and preservation. Admission to Grant's Farm is free to all ages."

So because the Busch Family owns the land and the farm now, of course this is where some of the horses live. Of course we had to start there before seeing everything else. The boys thought it was interesting. The place was very well put together and very informative. We all had a great time.

It was a great trip! We had a lot of fun and were really able to see a lot of animals. This is worth doing if you are in St Louis and have time.

The St Louis Arch

Because we were in St Louis we of course had to go see the St Louis Arch. It seems that we are making our vacations the last couple of years around national monuments, so this year we added one to the list. It was very neat to see something you have heard about and seen pictures of in person. The boys were once again much better than I expected them to be. I remember last year at Mt Rushmore thinking they would not care much for the visit and being pleased when they enjoyed it, same thing this year. The loved to look and ask question and were very excited to go to the top.

There was a very neat waiting area. There was a lot of information about the west and why the arch was built. The boys really enjoyed looking around and had a lot of questions.

We were in cart #7. The cars are about 4 foot round. The doors were about 3 foot tall. The cars would seat 5 so it was perfect for us. It was very cramped and I usually do not have problem with small spaces, but it was tight in there for a good 4 minutes to the top

It was a great trip and one we will remember. The boys can now look back and see the arch and say that they have been there. I can too!

St Louis - The Magic House

*****Warning - the 4th of July was long - THIS ONE IS LONGER****
After a week in Paris we headed to St Louis for a couple of days to explore and learn. It was a lot of fun to see all the things St Louis had to offer. There are a lot of activities for kids that are free!! The Magic House is not one of those things, However IT IS WELL WORTH the money! It was Wonderful. We made it to St Louis late Tuesday night and decided to try out the Magic House on Wednesday, we had other things planned in case the day went fast, however, that was not the case. The Magic House is wonderful, we spent well over 7 hours there and the boys were not ready to leave, but at that point mom and dad were ready to go. It was very exciting and something worth making a trip for. Here are some pictures of our adventure!

There was a Jack in the Bean Stalk ladder that went up three stories and the boys climbed their way up and down, Brayson making his way up

We found a room that had these giant building pieces, It was fun to see what they could come up with.

There was a section where you have to slove a crime and they give you steps to follow and one of the step is in a lab, there are glasses in there and of course Braxton played the part and played it well. Good job detective!

The 4th was a blast as always. We had a great time at Da and Mama Z's. We had a larger crowd this year than we have had the last couple of years. It was so good to see some people that we have not seen in a while. The day started with just the family in a fairly quite house and as the day went on more and more came, it was great! I think we ended up with around 60 or so. We all had a great time. The boys are beginning to remember more and more each year and that is a lot of fun to watch. Here are quite a few pictures from our day of fun and celebration of our Nations Birth!

July 3rd Fun

Paris does a fireworks show and fun on the 3rd of July. So we packed up all the kids and family and headed to town for the show. We met up with the Fry clan and marked out spot. We let the kids play and run wild while we waited for the fireworks. We had hamburgers and just sat and talked. It was a fun night.

Paris for A week

We were able to go and spend a week in Paris with mom and dad before the 4th. It was very nice to all be together and having fun. The boys were very excited to be a Da and Mama Z's and drive the Mule and 4-wheelers, feed the cows and goats, and just play.
One of the first nights we were there Braxton got out all the legos and declared a car building contest. So all the boys built a car and we raced them. It was fun to see how different we all think.

Cousin Week 2

After our first trip to Iowa and after swim lessons were over but before we were ready to head our on trip #2 we had our second cousin week of the summer. This time it was the cousins from Lamesa. The six boys were here and ready to play for a couple of days before heading to Lamesa to play at the Schmidt house and them with MeMe and PaPaw for 4 more days. They sure did have a blast and have been asking to do it again! We sure do love our family time!

RockHounds Game

The boys played basball in Tahoka this year and we took advantage of being able to have both of them on the same team! That was a hugh plus for this mom. I will post basball pictures a little later. The Lamesa church of Christ took a group to the Midland RockHounds game and we decided to tag along. The boys were a bit confused as to why they were not playing if it was the RockHounds but figured it out once we got there. We have great time with family and friends.

Zant Family Reunion

On June 18th we had our Annual Zant Family reunion. This was the 10th year for it since we started back. This year we had the reunion in New Home. New Home has a really nice community center that we were able to rent. It was so nice to have enough space for everyone. We had a great time seeing family and catching up. We had a great turn out with about 60/70 people!
The silent auction went really well. All in all I think it was a great day. I am so blessed to have such a great family.

The reunion bought a waterslide a couple of years ago and it is always a big hit! It is getting time for a new one, so we can have more room! We are growing and more and more kids keep coming, what a blessing!

Starting Over - Cousin Week 1

After school was out for the summer we made a mad dash to Iowa to see friends and for Andy to work. I however did not remember to take any pictures so you will just have to take my word for that trip ;) The summer got off to a great start. The boys and I have had a great time not sticking to such a tight schedule!! After our fun week in Iowa we came home and started swimming lessons. It is so much fun to see how much they learn and remember from year to year. This year proved to be just as exciting. Braxton took level 2, Brazos lever 1, and Brayson aqua tots. They all did an amazing job and are quite the little swimmers.

The second week of lessons we had a couple of cousins come visit from their new home in Louisana. Andrea and the boys came over and spent the week.

We had a great time sharing our toys and just playing with our cousins. It seems that we can never have enough family time! Andrea and I enjoyed a week of running from here to there and trying to keep up with playing catch up on our stories!

Andy was able to come and watch the kids on their last day of lessons. He took a vacation day and just hung out with us. He even took all five boys for the afternoon all by himself so Andrea and I could hang out together. I could not be more blessed! He is AWESOME!! Thanks Andy!

Well the Zant family Christmas went off without a hitch this year. There were a lot of changes this year some good and some not so good, but we had a great time all the same. We missed having Granny here this year. It was really hard without her as it was one of her favorite times of the year. It was nice to have some cousins there that have not been around for quite some time.
This year we moved Christmas from Christmas day to the 27th. It was nice to have more there, it was a late night but very nice to all be in the same place at the same time.

On Christmas day we traveled down to Lamesa to have Christmas with the Beck clan. The boys were excited and ready to play. The boys are very glad to have cousins to play with and really enjoy their time together. Our time together is always very loud but very fun. This Christmas was no exception. Christmas Day started early as we knew it would. Santa found our new house, we wondered if he would since it was so far away from where we were this time last year. He found us and left the kids some really neat things. The boys were really excited to see what all he brought and to open the rest of their presents.

Christmas Eve

This was the first time we have been home for Christmas. It was nice to be at home and spend the time with our family. The plan was that MeMe and PaPaw would come down and spend Christmas here with us but mother nature had other plans. There was a nice size snow storm that came through on the 23rd and made for an interesting time. It was pretty but messy and hard to drive on. So, we spent some quality time at home.

We celebrated Christmas with the Norris clan. He kids (and adults too) had a wonderful time. There was a lot of activity around with all the cousins under one roof. Day two was another disappointing day for the boys. For starters there was only one present for everybody and second it was something else for the tree. They asked for a star and that is what they got, but excited they were not. But, it all started with excitement. A unopened package, an unknown something inside. The smiles were many.

This was the first Christmas at our new home in Texas. The boys were excited to help with the tree this year. They did a great job, of course we had quite a few decorations toward the bottom of the tree but that was fun too. They are really getting into the swing of Christmas and what they means for them!! I know the real "joy" will come for them later but for now they are finding plenty of joy in Christmas.

We found a party store that was going out of business and had bough a bunch of silly string and had planned to use it on the 4th. Bath Time=Large mess

The boys love to take a bath in my bath tub. The love to play in the water and act as if they are swimming. I like that they can do that and most of the time I enjoy allowing them the opportunity. But, this is something we try to do when Andy is not around becasue they make a large water mess in the floor and it tends to frustrate him.

We have been trying to go and eat supper on Thursday's with Pa Dale. The boys love going over their and playing. They ask at least once or twice a week if it is the day we get to go. With busy schedules we are lucky if we make it two to three times a month. But, while Andrea and Kaden were here we got to go. The boys did not miss a lick, they went straight for the toys and Kaden followed suite, just like he had been there ten million times before. While Andrea was here we had Thanksgiving lunch with all the boys at school. I was a bad mother and did not take my camera for Brayson or Brazos' lunch, but we did manage to get a couple of pictures with Braxton at school. This was the first and only day my child has eaten in the lunch room. We will have to work on that one.

Kaden and Andrea came to visit while Andy was in Iowa. We were so glad to have someone to play with. Andrea was a great help with the boys and made a week at home feel a lot shorter. One day while Braxton was at school the boys got the tents out and were playing peek-a-boo in the kitchen. It was a lot of fun to watch.

Granny's funeral

November was a long month. Granny Zant passed away on November 8, while it has been so very hard to let go, I am so thankful that she is not hurting any more. She lived a great life. I have so many precious memories of her, our family, and sweet reunions. But, even as I sit and write these few words tears fill my eyes. I miss her tons! I want to call her and talk, to ask questions, to get opinions, and to be lifted up. I was not ready to let go. But, I am so very thankful for the example that she gave, the life she lived, and the way she loved. And, although the funeral was one of the hardest things I have ever done, there were a lot of blessings that day. And thanks to a lot of family, a short reunion here on earth. Seeing all those people and hearing that singing makes me look forward to the reunion we will all have one day when we are united again.

While it was a long week, there was a lot of good that came from it. Granny is no longer hurting, Papa is adjusting, and the rest of us are trying to find how to adjust and move forward. She was such a strong lady and the glue that held us together. Hopefully we can learn from the lessons she made very clear in her life. We are to stay together and stick it out no matter what. We do nt give up no matter how hard things get or how much we hurt. We love even when we don't want to. And we put God first all the time. Thanks Granny, we love you!

Marker Man

Braxton has homework everyday but on Friday. So he usually does his homework with WASHABLE markers. He always has some form of help from his brothers. Usually my sweet little Brayson is right there ready to help. He likes to color his hand and try to make hand prints on the paper. He does a few of those with paint at school. Brayson has really come into his own personality. He is becoming quite the little man. He is doing so much better at school and is beginning to like a lot more people. Maybe it is the fact that I am having to ask for a lot more help with Andy gone one week out of the month, but whatever the reason he is really developing a little personality.

Brayson decided to take his shirt off and walk on the bar. He found some M & M's from Halloween and thought he was set.

Christmas Pictures

Back in October we tried our best to take our Christmas pictures. It was a fun day, while we tried really hard we did manage to get a couple of decent pictures. Here are some that I thought were blog worthy in out "goofing" off along the way.

This fort is in the back yard of the house that MeMe and PaPaw just moved out of. Fort Andy Beck was build about 30 years ago for Andy's second birthday and it has been well used. Recently the 6 boys have really enjoyed a lot of hours shooting bad guys, catching robbers, and putting people in jail. We wanted to find a way to take it with us but PaPaw said it was just not possible.
I think we now have our Christmas idea for next year.

Aggie Weekend

Back on Labor Day we had a Aggie get together at our home. We had a reunion of our roommates from our days in College Station. It was wonderful to be together again. Although we were missing a few it was wonderful to be in the same place. We played games and just sat and talked. I do believe it has been over 8 years since we were all together. Wonderful, wonderful. We will do this again. We missed the Fry's (Steven and Jayla) and Mr. Donnie, we hope they will get to make the next one. Here are a few pictures from our weekend. In hindsight I should have taken a lot more, but this is what we have!

Cookie Making TIme

So, I am playing so major catch up on the blog. I will reveal my secrets at the end so stay tuned!!
Brazos, Brayson and I decided to make some cookies the other day. We though we could conquer Granny cookie recipe. We had a lot of fun baking and playing together. The boys really enjoying being a help to mom. I am so blessed to be able to stay at home with these busy boys. We miss having Braxton around, but try to make up for it on the weekends.

Working hard and maybe sneaking a few M & M's along the way. He really was a big help. Brazos likes to talk when he is comfortable, and when he is comfortable is does not stop talking. This was one of those days. He was so super excited.

Cousin TIme

Brayson and Kelton were playing this summer and they found a snow hat. They proceeded to take it on and off of each other. They were having the best time. I think these two are going to be a lot of trouble as time goes on. They are so much fun to watch.

Look mom, I got it on "all by myself" He is getting so BIG. I wish some days I could slow down time and watch them grow all over again. And then other days I am thankful to be in the stage we are in now. Such blessings.

Halloween Fun!

We had a great Halloween week. It was an adventure and I think at this point it will be an adventure for a few years to come. The boys were really into Trick-or-Treat this year. This year I asked the boys what they wanted to be and the chose Batman and Spiderman. Because Brayson was not able to voice his opinion the way I could understand he was a frog and a very cute frog if I do say so myself. Here are a few pictures from our adventure.

We stopped to take some time to paint cookies. The boys really did enjoy this a lot more. I did this with my class at Superkids and they enjoyed it as well. There were some left over cookies and the boys were glad to hear it. They painted until they were all done. Then they enjoyed one or two. They really were good.

PaPaw and MeMe were on their way through and were able to trick or treat with us for a little while. The boys were really excited to see them. The boys were showing off their goodies too.

Pa Dale had a treat for them as well. Braxton really likes to go over there.

The last stop of the night was Dad Dad and Mamme's (Leland and Susan's). Brazos took off his costume before the picture, and Brayson wanted nothing to do with it. Thanks for being troopers!

Soccer Man

Braxton has been playing soccer in Lamesa this fall with cousin Karson. We got off to a rocky start, but once he figured out that he could play and that it was fun he was all in. He did not play the first game, he literally just stood there. But, by the next week he was running and kicking. He did a great job. Here are some pictures of one of the games. He and Karson had a good time playing and their brothers had a good time at the pratices and at the games. Of course these two boys came with their own cheering section! Great job starting and finishing strong Braxton, we are proud of you.

Our first season of soccer is over. We had a lot of fun. There is already a lot of talk between Braxton and Brazos of when soccer will start again. They are both ready. Look out - here come those Beck Boys!
